HOW DO YOU PRONOUNCE YOUR NAME?

My full name is Tjili Srey-Ya Grant Wetherill. I sign my work “TJILI”, which is pronounced the same as “Chilli”, and add a heart in whichever colour I like at that particular moment.

DID YOU KNOW THAT A TJILI IS ...

... a Balinese harvest offering dedicated to Dewi Sri, the Indonesian rice Goddess. Tjili effigies were placed in rice fields during a harvest to encourage a successful season. Once the rice was cut, the Tjili dolls were preserved in the granaries as protective agents. Tjilis are elaborately hand-woven out of palm leaves and often painted with an organic pigment.

WHERE ARE YOU FROM?

I was born outside Phnom Penh in Cambodia and adopted as an infant by my British parents, James and Vik. I am now a British citizen but am very proud of my Cambodian heritage and love visiting there to seek inspiration and enjoy the friendly people, beautiful culture and its amazing historical and natural sights.

WHERE CAN I VIEW YOUR ORIGINAL ART?

I plan to set up my own studio and gallery ("The Tjillery") in 2021. Sign up to my NEWSLETTER below for the announcement plus news on my latest works and upcoming exhibitions. We can also arrange art viewings by appointment; CONTACT us to arrange.

WHERE CAN I BUY YOUR ART?

In person or at my online SHOP. We ship worldwide.

WHAT STYLE AND ART MATERIALS DO YOU USE?

My art is usually a mix of traditional graphite pencil and colourful "Wax Aquarell" fine water-colour pastels from Koh-i-Noor Hardtmuth. I love using strong, bold lines and occasionally add a swoosh of water so the colours swirl and blur. Click to see my UNIQUE STYLE.

DO YOU TAKE COMMISSIONS?

I can create personalised art in regards to subject, size, color, theme, and mood. CONTACT me with your requirements, any questions or to get a quote. Price will depend on size and complexity.

SUBJECT SUGGESTIONS

Always welcomed. CONTACT me !

WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get)

My art is as original as I am. I'm not quite perfect. It has eraser lines, smudges, water swirls. That's the way I roll. Relish the blemish. X
